About Esure

esure is an [internet] and telephone based [insurance] company based in [Reigate], [Surrey], [England]. It also has offices in [Manchester] and [Glasgow]. It is a part of the [HBOS] which also includes the [Bank of Scotland] and the [Halifax (bank)]. esure was founded in [1999] by Peter Wood (not the [Peter Wood]), who also launched the [Direct Line] insurance company for the [Royal Bank of Scotland].

esure is now one of the largest insurance providers in the UK offering car, home and travel insurance, as well as personal [loan]s. The company focuses on lower risk customers, offering cheaper premiums for customers with a current [no claims bonus] for its car insurance products.

esure is also known for its high profile commercials with [Michael Winner], used from [2002] to [2005] and resuming in [2007]. The adverts spawned the phrase, Calm down dear, it's only a commercial, and even a remixed version of the advert , created by JAKAZiD as part of his advert remixes (see also [Cillit Bang]). These were then replaced with the [Mr. Mouse] cartoon character narrated with a male American accent. There has, however, been a resurgence of esure's use of Michael Winner in its commercial endeavours.

esure advert?

Q) dont you all think that the esure adverts do your ead in? i hate it when that man goes" calm down dear" ITS JUST NOT FUNNY ANYMORE! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

A) it's always annoyed me from the beginning..........i can't stand it.............i wanna explode.

Just wondering whether anyone has a link to the original Esure TV advert. Not the remix?

Q) Do a search for eure on youtube, and you get lots of hits on the funny esure advert dance remix also here: http://www.luckykazoo.com/media/2005/03/e-sure-remix.html But are there any copies of the original esure advert on the web. Just curious.

A) and it killed the cat.

ESURE? Is this a good company to insure through?

A) E-sure (The Halifax on-line company) is a sound company specialising in the mature - claim-free market i.e. cherrypicking. There is nothing wrong with the company, however they don't seem to have any special features to attract customers - other than price - in a word : boring. Before you buy online you should decide: 1) Is the cover adequate (Watch out for excesses, courtesy cars, policy limits/ tems/ exclusions etc) 2) If I have a claim - who do I contact? Will I get good service? 3) If I have any queries or need advice on an insurance matter will they help me? It is up to you to decide whether any price savings that materialise are worth the potential hassle if something goes wrong and the lack of a professional insurance advisor to help you.

How does the car insurance company ESURE rate if you have to make a claim?

A) There are a lot of on line reviews of ESURE, the following is typical: Like many people I like value for money, so when I had to renew my car insurance I shopped around. ESure were the cheapest by far and as they were not some small here today gone tomorrow company, that's who I chose. If that were the end of the story I would be recommending them highly. The entire process from quote to certificate arriving in the post was wonderful. So wonderful and cheap that I recommended them to my parents. Both of whom had cars. Again the process was easy, the quote cheap and the staff helpful. A couple of months after taking out the policy my mother was unfortunate enough to have her car stolen. It was parked outside her house and securely locked. Esure couldn't have been less interested. They did complete the claim process eventually, but they then refuse to insure her on any policy other than the one she had claimed on. She was at the time a named driver on my fathers car. This was revoked and she was made to feel a criminal for having been a victim of someone elses crime. Despite having protected no claims discount she was unable to be insured with esure again. I can not in any way recommend a company who treat their customers in this way. ----- And: Competitiveness of APR Excellent Comprehensiveness of range of products Excellent Product package Excellent Efficiency of service Excellent Value for money Very Poor On line - Content/organization of site Good On line - Reliability/speed of site Good Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Don't want to know if you need to claim Recommend to potential buyers: no

would you get fixed traditionally (clamps on tubes?), or the new procedure Esure..with no down time?

Q) If you dont know about Esure...its a in office procedue of permanant birth controll. they insert tubes in you and within 6 mo, the tissue grows around tubes securing them. no cuts involved, just you have to take the depo shot for 3-6 mos. im weird about new things.... do clamps even work?

A) I myself had this esure device put in and it was the biggest mistake of my life!! I guess I was the first one with complications. The device moved in my body which made horrible pain. At first the doctors thought nothing of it, after a month went by finally they did tests on me. One of the devices moved and placed itself in my utreus, the other one cut through one of my tubes. Turns out the only way to get them out was to have a hystorectomy! So from what happened to me I don't recomend it to anyone. It also turns out that I was the first person that this happened too. I too thought the no down time sounded great and the no more birth control idea was great. It just didn't work for me. So for my 25th birthday they gave my a hystorectomy and a lot of confusion and regret. When I saw your question I just had to respond. Because I know the doctors do say there is some risks but I don't think they actually say that this has had problems. And you end up thinking that it won't happen to you. But it can, and it does and I am proof!

What is esure? It is something that has to do with pregnancy prevention.?

A) I know what your talking about, its similiar to the IUD birth control. Your doctor will insert it into your vagina to prevent pregnancy. Its done in the office with little to no discomfort. Not sure how much it costs or who carries it since its a really new concept. My doctor has just started doing this type of birth control. Still debating whether I will use that instead of the pill.

Did anybody make the decion to get there tubes tied?

Q) We are sure we want permanant birth control, but were having trouble trying to decide if we should go the traditional way....tied,clamped, etc...or this new non sergical procedure called Esure where they insert tubes in you that in 6 mo...form a bond with your tissue. Anyone that can help me with storys or there decion making and why will be apriciated.

A) I had my tubes ties after the birth of my 2nd child. It is done under general anesthesia, or if you had an epidural and it is still working, you can have in then. It is a relative simple procedure. The Esure is done by placing small tubes into you Fallopian tubes, this over time causes scar tissue to build up and thus plugs up the Fallopian tube. Instead of cutting and tying or burning they simply plug off on their own. The difference is that it is very difficult to revers if you choose to. There is so much scarring a large portion of the tube would have to be removed and pieced back together. But I have heard that this is done vaginally in about 30 minutes. It is called the lunch time sterilization. You can also return to work sooner. Like the next day. personally I never regretted my choice of sterilization. Two children was all I could raise and educate with my situation. They are now grown and well educated and I can still manage financially.

I have concerns about my daughter starting kindergarten. Any advice??

Q) My daughter is 5 years old. She is starting kindergarten in a public school this year due to the fact that I cannot afford private schooling, and I do not have time to homeschool due to my two jobs(I am a single parent of two). My concern is that at 5 years old she can already count as high as she pleases, she can add single and single/double digit numbers, she can subtract single digit numbers, she knows the phone numbers and addresses of almost everyone we know(some of which I don't even know the numbers), she is doing 1st Grade workbooks, and can read simple books(as well as some with up to 6 letter words). She is very advanced for her age and I would like to know if there is anything that I can do to esure that she is learning new things in school. I am afraid that she will get bored and in turn dislike school. I would like to see her advance at a level that is appropriate for her learning abilities. Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have any advice??

A) My daughter is 6 and has just finished kindergarten at a public school. She too is a tiny high achiever. (No, no...must not be irritating bragging parent...must not be irritating bragging parent...) It sounds like you're already doing a terrific job as her first and most important teacher, i.e., her parent. Your daughter will probably have lots of fun in kindergarten, will learn a few things you didn't get around to teaching her, will gain important social skills, but she might still be way ahead of the other kids in some areas, like math. That's fine. I assume you'll continue to teach her at home. Your kitchen table is probably going to be the site of her best and most valuable learning experiences for quite a while, and that would still be the case if she were in a private school. Teachers formalize knowledge and skills; well-prepared students are ready to learn them. (Unprepared students struggle because they don't know how to learn yet, begin to see school as a venue for their repeated humiliation and failure, and eventually disconnect from school entirely.) Your child will succeed and will find other well-prepared students in her public school classroom who enjoy learning and knowlege as much as she does. By the time she starts second grade or thereabouts, your school district may begin testing kids for Honors or Highly-Capable classes. Some people think these advanced classes are great; others think they limit kids' experiences and encourage elitism. I am a public high school teacher. I've taught both ends of the academic spectrum: Honors and Alternative Ed.(low grades, low skills, low motivation; often have complicated home lives), and have found that seemingly very different kids are much more similar than they at first may appear. Both types of student require more individualized curriculum and freedom to approach a problem from whatever angle he or she wants to try, within certain boundaries. The big difference, with a few exceptions, is parent support and involvement. At Open House, few parents of my Alternative Ed. kids show up; for my Honors classes, the room is packed with parents. The fact that you are actively teaching your daughter and giving her new and challenging experiences is the most positive harbinger of her academic future. She's a lucky girl, and one day, she will thank you!

Q) i had a sonogram/ultrasound they measured the baby nad checked to mak esure everything was and the baby looks great...if i was farther along than i thought would the sonogram show this??? the baby measured 22 weeks..so does this mean i am 22 weeks preg even if my period and the babys age match???? the babys age and th edate of my last period dont match i mean???

A) If the ultrasound says you are 22 weeks then most likely you are, ultrasounds are more accurate measuring fetal age than the little round like calculator thing from the Doc's office. good luck and God bless!
